Deep in the red-rock country of Canyon Point, Amangiri is known for pairing serene luxury with the raw, untamed spirit of the Colorado Plateau. Its 34 modernist suites and adjacent tented camp, Camp Sarika, sit on more than 900 acres of desert that shift color from ocher to violet as the sun moves. Now, this five-star sanctuary is turning its gaze to an even older sense of time: the ancient wisdom of Tibetan Bon tradition.
From May 7 to 10, 2026, Amangiri will host Longevity Powered by Nature, an exclusive three-night retreat co-created with Geshe Yong Dong. Known to guests as Geshe La, the Buddhist monk is one of only a handful of Bon spiritual masters living in the West. Ordained at 13 at Nangzhig Bönpo monastery, he has studied with the 14th Dalai Lama and spent three decades introducing YungDrung Bon Buddhism to Canada, where he now resides.
The program is built around the five external elements—space, air, fire, water, earth—and their internal counterparts. Guests will learn to harmonize both through Tibetan Magic Movement, mantra, chanting, and mindfulness meditation, almost all of it held outside, surrounded by the property’s untouched mesas and sandstone buttes. “True longevity is not only about living longer,” the retreat philosophy reads, “but finding vitality, balance and joy in everyday life.”
What the three days hold
Each morning begins before breakfast with a 90-minute outdoor mindfulness walk led by Geshe La as the sun rises over the Grand Staircase-Escalante. Afternoons are devoted to hour-long teaching sessions—Rejuvenation and the External Elements, The Internal Elements and Harmony with Nature, and The Five Organs in Balance with All Elements—followed by free time to use the spa or join a guided hike.
Evenings carry their own ritual. The first night opens with a ceremonial meeting and stargazing with Geshe La. Night two features Tibetan Magic Movement, breathwork, chanting and meditation under the desert sky. The final evening culminates in a fire ceremony on the rocks, again accompanied by movement, mantra, and the monk’s quiet instruction. Welcome and farewell group dinners with Geshe La are included, as is a 90-minute group yoga and sound bowl session on arrival day.
More than meditation
Wellness here is not limited to the cushion. Each guest receives up to 180 minutes of spa therapies from a menu that includes Ai Chi, myofascial release, floatation, ASMR Sensory Wellness, percussion and cryo-roller therapy, Utah salt and clay treatments, warm stone massage, reflexology, and the Aman Advanced Facial. The spa’s 25,000 square feet look out to the canyons and include a water pavilion with steam room, sauna, and cold plunge pool—all available throughout the stay.
The retreat rate also covers round-trip transfers from Page Municipal Airport (a 25-minute drive), full board for two guests (breakfast, lunch, dinner; alcohol excluded), daily scheduled group wellness classes, guided hikes, and custom itinerary planning. In-room non-alcoholic refreshments are replenished daily.
